How It Works
The treatment process involves two key stages:
- Concentration: We first use foam fractionation to remove the PFAS from the leachate. This step helps the landfill meet on-site discharge requirements. Concentrating PFAS with foam fractionation drastically reduces the volume of contaminated liquid that requires destruction.
- Destruction: We then process the concentrated PFAS using our PFAS Annihilator®, which employs supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) technology. This method uses high temperature and pressure to break down the strong carbon-fluorine bonds in PFAS molecules, destroying all PFAS compounds, from long-chain to ultra-short-chain, with no harmful byproducts.
