Revive Environmental’s AFFF Takeback Initiative Featured in The Marietta Times

Revive Environmental was recently highlighted in The Marietta Times for its role in the Ohio EPA’s Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) Takeback Program. This significant initiative, announced by Gov. Mike DeWine, focuses on the safe destruction of firefighting foam containing harmful perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

The two-day event took place June 17-18 at the Washington County Fairgrounds, where fire departments from around the region turned over their AFFF for proper destruction. Sixteen fire departments from eight Southeastern Ohio counties participated, contributing approximately 2,906 gallons of PFAS-containing AFFF. The two-day event was part of a much larger state-wide AFFF takeback program. The initiative is funded by a $3 million settlement between the state of Ohio and Monsanto Co., related to the environmental impact of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).

Revive’s advanced PFAS Annihilator® technology, which uses extreme heat and pressure to convert PFAS into carbon dioxide and inert salt, is being utilized to ensure environmentally safe disposal. Revive Environmental is proud to support this initiative, reinforcing our commitment to innovative environmental solutions.
