Revive Environmental Recognized with Two WEF Awards at WEFTEC 2025

Innovation and Collaboration Take Center Stage in the Fight Against PFAS

From the moment the doors opened in Chicago, the energy and buzz about PFAS solutions took precedent. Conversations weren’t just about monitoring and management—they were about elimination. And that’s exactly where Revive Environmental thrives.

Throughout the week, our team had the opportunity to connect with hundreds of industry leaders, regulators, and consultants who share our commitment to tackling PFAS head-on. The excitement around both Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) and carbon regeneration was impossible to miss, with constant booth traffic and engaging discussions that went far beyond the technology itself.

WEFTEC is always a highlight of the year, but 2025 was especially meaningful. Revive Environmental was recognized by the Water Environment Federation (WEF) with not one, but two significant awards—honors that reflect both our innovation and our collaboration within the PFAS community.

PFAS Annihilator® Earns WEF’s Innovative Technology Award

Revive Environmental was named the 2025 recipient of the WEF Innovative Technology Award for its groundbreaking PFAS Annihilator® SCWO system, the first fully permitted, commercial-scale PFAS destruction technology in North America.

Unlike conventional methods that simply capture or transfer PFAS, the PFAS Annihilator® destroys them at the molecular level, achieving verified >99.99% destruction efficiency across challenging waste streams such as landfill leachate, AFFF, and industrial wastewater.

“This award affirms the transformative impact of SCWO. It’s a proven, deployable solution that permanently eliminates PFAS.” said Douglas Hendry, Chief Technology Officer at Revive Environmental.

The recognition capped off a week of meaningful conversations that reinforced the industry’s readiness to move beyond temporary fixes. Across our booth and meetings, the message was clear: verified, permanent PFAS destruction is no longer a future goal—it’s here, and it’s happening now.

Rudolfs Industrial Waste Management Medal: Celebrating Collaboration

Revive Environmental also shared in the 2025 Rudolfs Industrial Waste Management Medal, awarded to the multi-organization team behind the paper “Spent Media Management Options for Industrial PFAS Treatment Applications.”

The paper, presented at WEFTEC 2024, explored sustainable strategies for for managing PFAS-laden residuals such as spent granular activated carbon (GAC). It demonstrated how integrated solutions, like combining GAC RENEW and the PFAS Annihilator, can create  closed-loop, full-destruction pathways for PFAS treatment.

“We’re honored to be part of this esteemed group of experts who came together to tackle one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time,” said David Trueba, CEO of Revive Environmental. “This recognition celebrates the spirit of collaboration driving our industry forward and reinforces the need to eliminate PFAS, not simply contain it.

A Week to Remember

From the awards stage to the exhibit floor, WEFTEC 2025 was a milestone moment for Revive. We had the chance to reconnect with long-time partners, forge new relationships, and celebrate how far the industry has come in advancing real solutions for PFAS destruction.

Our team left Chicago energized by what’s next—continuing to advance GAC RENEW, expanding SCWO treatment capacity, and staying focused on our mission: to protect people and ecosystems by eliminating PFAS for good.
